Managing Partner APB@CompassRosePLLC.com September 25, 2019 VIA E-MAIL THORUGH COMMITTEE COUNSEL The Honorable Richard Burr Chairman, Senate Select Committee on Intelligence The Honorable Mark Warner Vice Chairman, Senate Select Committee on Intelligence United States Senate Washington, DC 20510 RE: Response to Committee Request for Intelligence Community Whistleblower to Meet with Committee Counsel Dear Chairman Burr and Vice Chairman Warner: I write in response to your letter dated September 24, 2019. In your letter, you requested that our client meet with Committee counsel no later than Friday, September 27, 2019. While our client is willing to meet with the Committee if that is determined to be necessary, we have yet to be provided with direction on doing so in accordance with appropriate security practices per 50 U.S.C. § 3033(k)(5)(D)(ii)(II). We have reaffirmed our client’s request for direction by correspondence to Acting Director Maguire, a copy of which is included as an enclosure. Furthermore, we have requested for the Acting Director to process and grant myself, I. Charles McCullough, III, and Mark S. Zaid the appropriate security clearances so that legal counsel may be in attendance at any meetings with our client. I am sure you can understand that it is imperative that a whistleblower, especially one caught up in such a high profile matter involving the President, have experienced legal counsel by their side. Your cooperation in ensuring this occurs would help facilitate a future meeting or testimony. Thank you in advance for your time and attention to this matter. Should you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact me directly. Sincerely, Andrew P. Bakaj Lead Attorney for the Intelligence Community Whistleblower Enclosures: As stated.
