This meeting is the beginning of a dialogue with the community on James Street North GO Station. Tonight, we will: o Provide an overview of Metrolinx and its regional transportation plan, The Big Move. o Present the preliminary design for James Street North GO Station. o Ask for your feedback on key elements of the station and plaza design. o Answer your questions. 2 Metrolinx was created in 2006 to provide a modern, efficient and integrated transportation system in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area. 2009 3 2010 2011 The Big Move: A Bold Plan o Metrolinx's regional transportation plan, providing a common vision for transportation across the region. o The Big Move is in action with over $16 billion of projects being built today. o The Big Move's Next Wave of Investment recently announced will continue Metrolinx's transformation of the region's transportation system by expanding the regional transit network as well as providing resources for local transit, roads, active transportation and more. More info at bigmove.ca. o As mandated, Metrolinx will be presenting recommendations for an Investment Strategy by June 1, 2013. 4 Nine Big Moves 1 A fast, frequent and expanded regional rapid transit network 2 High-order transit connectivity to the Pearson Airport District from all directions 3 An expanded Union Station - the heart of the GTHA's transportation system. 4 A complete walking and cycling network with bike-sharing programs 5 An information system for travellers, where and when they need it 6 A region-wide integrated transit fare system 7 A system of interconnected mobility hubs 8 9 5 A comprehensive strategy for goods movement An Investment Strategy to provide stable and predictable funding What is a Mobility Hub? Hamilton LIUNA (James Street North GO) 6 o Mobility Hubs are major transit stations and their surrounding neighbourhoods (approximately 800 m radius). o There are 51 Mobility Hubs identified in The Big Move.
