Officers asked students to dispose of alcohol, at which time 10-12 people left the auditorium and went to the restroom. Police later found empty beer cans and empty bottles in the trashcan inside the restroom. Two brothers stored five empty and one partially full keg in the fraternity house basement. The members moved the kegs to the fraternity house so their parents would not find alcohol at their apartment. During a fraternity event, chapter members provided alcohol to the pledges. One member's excessive consumption of alcohol resulted in his hospitalization. UTPD officers responded to a report of an unconscious female in a residence hall. The student stated that she consumed alcohol at the fraternity house (as well as at two others) earlier that evening. When officers arrived at the house, they made contact with a pledge who stated that he and his pledge brothers were at the house for initiation activities. Pledges were forced to engage in strenuous physical activities, were deprived of food or water, and were forced to eat cigarette butts and ramen noodles with vodka. Fraternity members hazed pledges prior to initiation. Interviews with 29 new members revealed that hazing activities included scavenger hunts, physical activity / serious harm or damage to an individual, servitude, and blindfolding. Chapter members did not comply with requests made by university officials to provide the names of individual brothers who required the new members to engage in the physical activity described in the physical activity / serious harm activities. UTPD officers responded to the report of an intoxicated person at the fraternity house. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the fraternity was holding its annual week-long philanthropy event at the house. Officers conducted a walkthrough of the house and found empty beer cans inside. IFC History - 2 10-03-12 Chapter Pi Kappa Alpha Date October 28, 2010 Incident Four pledges stole Halloween decorations from a home on Cherokee Boulevard. One of the homeowners later saw her decorations on the patio on the front porch of the fraternity house. The fraternity was on disciplinary probation with the university at the time of the incident. A student found another female student lying unconscious on the front steps of the fraternity house. Fraternity members drove her to the residence hall and carried her inside. The fraternity members falsely identified themselves to hall staff when asked for information. Students informed police that the female had consumed alcohol at the fraternity house. UTPD officers responded to an alarm at the fraternity house. Upon their arrival, officers heard people yelling "the cops are here." Several individuals standing outside then put down containers of alcohol and began to run away from the house. When the officer entered the house he heard someone announce his presence, and someone instructed everyone to leave the house. Officers saw several open bottles and cans of alcoholic beverages as well as a table with what appeared to be a beer pong set on top. As officers entered the room, the occupants immediately set down their alcoholic beverages and ran out the door on the other side of the room. When officers made contact with a fraternity member, they noticed that the student had bloodshot eyes and that his breath smelled of alcohol. KPD officers responded to UT Hospital on the report of an extremely intoxicated individual who was in critical condition with a BAC of 0.4+. The hospitalized individual was a fraternity member, and members of the fraternity dropped him off at the hospital. Another fraternity member met police at the hospital and stated that the member's injuries were caused by his participation in an inherently dangerous and unorthodox alcohol consumption practice utilized by individuals at the house earlier in the evening. UTPD and KPD officers reported to the fraternity house where they found several men in an unconscious state. Officers found beer cans, alcohol paraphernalia, and the plastic containers from boxed wine scattered outside the house. Officers found empty boxes of wine as well as the plastic bags (which had been removed from the boxes) throughout common areas and residential rooms of the house, and they observed fresh blood stains on the floors in residential rooms, in the bathroom, and on toilets and bathroom walls. During the investigation, the fraternity president arrived at the house and appeared to be intoxicated, and he did not cooperate with police. Police issued 12 citations for underage consumption of alcohol and one citation for disorderly conduct. Upon arriving on scene, individuals confirmed that fight occurred between fraternity members and members of another fraternity. When officers investigated the case, they saw a member carry a keg of beer into the house. The email gave the location of the off-campus party and informed members that there would be a keg and strippers. UTPD officers reported to a nearby fraternity house in response to a possible burglary in progress. The officer observed approximately five members involved in a physical altercation. Prior to officers' arrival, 15-20 members entered--without authorization--the nearby fraternity house where they broke furniture, threw another fraternity member against the wall, and knocked over chairs and lamps.
