Further investigation revealed a third shooting victim had been transported to a hospital before police arrival. The decedent was found with a gunshot wound to the neck in an unconscious state. DCFD and EMS responded, rendered first aid and transported decedent to an area hospital. Despite all life saving efforts, the decedent succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced by ER Staff. On Thursday, July 5, 2012, your affiant responded to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner's Office for the decedent's autopsy. Dr. Pestaner ruled the cause of death a single gunshot to the left side of the back. The projectile traveled through the lung and aorta and exited through the decedent's neck. Dr. Pestaner ruled the manner of death as HOMICIDE. Police interviewed a witness, herein referred to as WI. Wl reports while in the 5000 Block of First Street, NW, Washington, DC, W1 looked up and saw (3) three black males in white shirts emerge from an alley. The alley runs between First Street NW and New Hampshire Ave, NW. W1 overheard an individual state "that's them KDY youngins." Seconds later, without provocation, one of the black males who emerged from the alley retrieved a silver handgun which W1 believed to be a .380 from his pocket or waistband and began to fire shots into the 5000 block of First Street, NW where the decedent and others were located. WI, the decedent, and others fled from the 5000 Block of First Street, NW. W1 stated that IT stared into the shooters face. W1 provided a description for the shooter as I black male, brown complexioncd, long dreads, slight facial hair and wearing a white shirt. W1 stated IT had never seen the shooter before in ITS life but would be able to identi him if IT saw him a ain. 2012 (ew QOZQ Preliminary investigation revealed that the possible suspects may hang out or run with a group known as maintains a stronghold in the 7" Kennedy Street, NW Washington DC neighborhood. Further investigation revealed an individual known as "Shocka" was responsible for the shooting. Investigators familiar with were able to provide the name CALVIN SHAW aka A QUERY of COLUMBO and MUGSHOT DATABASE revealed the photo and arrest history of CALVIN SHAW aka SHARKIM SHARP, a BLACK MALE (DOB) 3/13/1990 (PDID) 579782 of - EAST CAPITOL STREET, SE-WASHINGTON, DC. The most recent arrest photograph was consistent with the description provided by W-1. Detectives prepared a photo array of CALVIN SHAW and 8 other qualifiers to present to W1 for identification purposes. Investigators presented the photo array containing an image of CALVIN SHAW to WI. WI looked at the array and immediately pointed to the photograph in position The investigator asked W1 "who is four"? W1 answered "this guy with the dreads, that's the shooter." The person depicted in position #4 is CALVIN SHAW aka SHARKIM SHARP, a BLACK MALE (DOB) 3/13/1990 (PDID) 579782. Based upon the aforementioned facts and circumstances, your affiont believes that probable cause exists that CALVIN SHAW (DOB) (PDID) 579782 committed the offense of First Degree Murder While Armed in the death of CREVONTAI JAMES KEY. Calvin Shaw aka Shar-kim I Sharp GJO SUPPLEMENTAL QERSTEIN 1. My name is King Watts. I am a detective with the Metropolitan Police Department assigned to the Violent Crimes Branch Unit. I have been a sworn ofticer for approximately 22 years, and I have been assigned to the VCB/Homicide Unit for approximately 4 years. 2. I am one ofthe detectives involved in the investigation into the murder of Crevontai James Key Key"), and the shootings of three other individuals who had been standing in the vicinity of Mr. Key, that occurred on Wednesday, July 4, 2012, at approximately 8:03 pm, in the 5000 block of First Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. The following facts are based on information learned by me from conversations with witnesses, detectives who are working on the investigation and/or from my review of MPD reports generated in this investigation. 3. W-1, certain of whose information is set forth in the Affidavit in Support of Arrest Warrant herein, is also a shooting victim. Despite being a victim, as well as a witness, for purposes of consistency, W-I will be referred to as throughout this Supplemental Gersfefn. 4. On July 5, 2012, at approximately 8:03 pm, W-5 was present inthe 5000 block of First Street, N.W. stated that three individuals (S-1, S-2 dc S-3), apparently acting in concert, walked together from the direction ofthe alley on Farragut Street, N.W., toward the 5000 block of First Street, N.W. According to both all three men were wearing white shirts. W-5 stated that, as the three men approached the 5000 block of First Street, N.W., one of the three men walked ahead of the other two, and then veered at an angle to S-l's left, so as to cross Farragut Street, N.W. S-1 walked straight up to the group, that included W-l, and looked straight at the group. As this was Occurring, S-2 and S-3, continued walking in line with the sidewalk on the south side of Farragut Street, NW., toward First Street, N.W., where S-2 and S-3 stopped more or less together in the street, having taken up positions supporting S-1. Based upon the descriptions provided by W-1 and W-5 for S-l, S-1 is the person previously positively identified by W-l as Calvin Shaw aka Sharkirn Sharp (PDID #579~782). 6. ln this regard, W-l additionally stated that as S-l approached W-1 and the group of young people who were standing with W>>l S-l looked directly at W-1 and the group that was with W-1. W-l looked directly into the face of S-1. S-1 shook his head. As S-1 did so, S-l pulled a silver-colored .380 semi-automatic pistol from S-l's waistband, pointed the pistol at W- 1 and the group with W-l and, without working the slide on the semi-automatic pistol, S-l began to fire at W-1 and the group with W-1. As the shooting began, W-1 turned and ran away. As he ran away, W-l was shot along the top of his head. W-1 was taken by emergency personnel to a local hospital where he was treated, kept overnight, and released the next day. W-l received a wound approximately three inches long that took approximately 8-10 staples to close. 7. Victim #1 decedent, Mr. Key, was one ofthe people who had been standing with W-l in the 5000 block of First Street, N.W., at the time S-1, S-2, and S-3 approached and the shooting began. 8. Victim #2 was among the people who were standing with W-1. V-2's baclc was generally to the avenue of approach taken by S-I S-2, and S-3. V-2 was shot in the back, in the area of his left shoulder blade. The bullet emerged from the right side of V-2's neck. was taken to a local hospital, where he was treated and eventually released. 9- Victim #3 was among the people who were standing with W-l. As V-3 ran away, V-3 was shot in the back. V-3 was transported by emergency personnel to a local hospital. V-3 was admitted to the hospital, has undergone a series of procedures and surgeries, and remains hospitalized. 10. Following the July 4, 2012 shootings, MPD recovered twenty-seven (27) expended shell casings from the area where the four victims were shot: eight (8) .380 shell casings, eleven (1 1) .40 caliber shell casings; and eight (8) .45 caliber shell casings. All of the shell casings were from the areas were S-1, S-2, and S-3 had been standing. .
