ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH SERVICES northern health CLOSURE I CORRECTION ORDER To; Peace River Regional District OWNER I OCCUPIER Feye Spring Water System This is an ORDER issued pursuant to Section 26 of the Drinking Water Protection Act and as a result of an inspection conducted under authority of Section 40 of the Drinking Water Protection Act. Reason or reason the ORDER is made: On May 24, 2016, I, Brown Environmental Health Of?cer conducted an inspection at your water system commonly known as Feye Spring. The purpose of the inspection was to determine whether or not your water system was in compliance with the Drinking Water Protection Act. As a result of the inspection, it was determined that the existing water system and works was composed of a natural spring fed aquifer. The water is collected from the spring by means of gravity and stored in an underground storage tank. There is a secure pump house constructed around the storage tank. Residents have the option to ?ll from a smaller hose located on the side of the building, or from a larger diameter overhead hose. There is no treatment on site. As per Section 5(2) of the B.C Drinking Water Protection Regulation, water from a water supply system must be disinfected by a water supplier if the water originates from surface water or ground water that, in the opinion of a Drinking Water Of?cer, is at risk of containing pathogens. The following action must be taken by you: I Issue a Boil Water Notice Immediately to all users of the water system. 0 Immediately remove all ?untreated water, use at your own risk" and ?agricultural use" signs and replace with new appropriate signs which indicate the potential risks to the users. 0 The Boil Water Notice is to last no longer than the end of day on Oct 31, 2016. If at this time, the PRRD has not resolved this issue, the PRRD is to immediately cease and desist operation of the Feye Spring water system. This would include surrendering their operating permit and dismantling the tank loader water system works. A further inspection or inspections may be conducted to ensure compliance with this ORDER. Failure to comply with the terms of this ORDER may result in the issuance of a Violation Ticket, prosecution, or other legal action as may be appropriate to enforce this ORDER.
