Sam BURFOOT (born 10 April 1994), in Bromley, England, now a naturalised New Zealander who plays for Auckland City FC. Art 7 of the Regulations governing the FIFA Statutes states: 7 Acquisition of a new nationality Any Player who refers to art. 5 par.1 to assume a new nationality and who has not played international football in accordance with art. 5 par. 2 shall be eligible to play for the new representative team only if he fulfils one of the following conditions: a) He was born on the territory of the relevant Association; b) His biological mother or biological father was born on the territory of the relevant Association; c) His grandmother or grandfather was born on the territory of the relevant Association; d) He has lived continuously for at least five years after reaching the age of 18 on the territory of the relevant Association. We wish to submit as follows: 1. That the players in question were not born in New Zealand 2. That the players in question does not have a parent or grandparent born in the New Zealand 3. That the players in questidn have become naturalised citizens of New Zealand based on residency. As a result the players in question must comply with Art. of the regulations governing the application of FIFA Statutes. That is since they were not born in the New Zealand and they don't have a parent or grandparent born in New Zealand. The players in question are required to 5 years residency in New Zealand after reaching 18 years. As these players are 20 and 21 years they can?t have spent 5. years residency after they turn 18 years and therefore are not illegible to play for New Zealand. in accordance with Art. 10.3 of the Olympic Regulations we lodged a protest within 2 hours after the match and we followed up with this written report. in accordance with Art. 55 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code, if New Zealand is found to ?eld an illegible player than New Zealand must forfeit the match and pay a fine of CHF6000.
