Media Release To: From: Perimeter Aviation LP – Head Office CC: Senior Management Date: June 29, 2015 Re: Perimeter Aviation LP – Flight 993 - December 22, 2012 On June 29th, 2015, the Transportation Safety Board (TSB) released its report on the December 22, 2012 Perimeter Aviation flight 993 accident that resulted in the tragic loss of an infant. The TSB report identified that Flight 993 was on its second attempt for landing in poor weather conditions with no modern navigational aided published approaches at this particular airport, contributing to an unstable approach, resulting in the aircraft coming into contact with the ground beyond the end of the runway. Additionally, they cited that in accordance with industry practice a child restraint system was not used as they are not required by current Canadian Aviation Regulation. Through this tragedy, many positive changes have taken place, for example, the airport in question now has modern navigational-aided approaches at both ends of the runway. In addition to the large contributing factors associated with this accident we took the opportunity to scrutinize our operation for more subtle contributing factors. Through our vigorous Safety Management System processes we were able to identify some areas for continuous improvement resulting in further safety enhancements:  A Systems Operations Control Center was developed at the Winnipeg main base. The control center is equipped with state of the art aircraft tracking and communication equipment, enhanced weather interpretation resources, and enhanced resource management equipment and training.  Enhanced stable approach and go-around procedures for our flight crew, and  Enhanced cabin safety protocols specific to briefing and preparing passengers who are carrying infants/children on board. Perimeter Aviation LP is confident that these changes will result in an even higher level of safety for the flying public.
