The awards were co-sponsored by the Greater Medina Area Chamber of Commerce. The three awards were: (1) group award for the best safety records with a group of like companies; (2) the achievement award for outstanding effort by supervisory personnel in reducing the annual incident rate by 25% or more in 2014; and (3) for outstanding effort in safety by operating without a lost-time incident from June 12, 2013 to April 14, 2014 with 1,688,488 hours worked. Mr. Blair presented the awards to the Commissioners on behalf of all of the Medina County employees. C OUNTY R ECEIVES C HECK Pictured with the Commissioners are Gardiner Energy Group employees Kevin Pugely (left), Jamie Bergsman (second from the right), and Mark Havens (right) Mark Havens, along with Jamie Bergman and Kevin Pugely, of Gardiner Energy Group stated that in December of 2014, the county and Gardiner engaged in a county-wide energy conservation program. Many infrastructure improvements such as replacing boilers, HVAC equipment, etc., and paying for them from those actual measures were made. One of the larger components of the project was a countywide lighting retrofit. Part of the savings was from a rebate program offered by FirstEnergy. It was challenging because it ended December 2014. Scott Miller, Tom Maupin, and Chris Jakab provided much help in putting together the applications because they needed to be done by December 31. The contract was approved on December 20 and they had 90 days to install the lighting measures. All was completed on time. The county was presented a check in the amount of $81,593.74.
