On Tuesday, February 10, 2015, Of?cers with the Metropolitan Police Department?s (MPD) Youth Division, Missing Person?s Unit, called The Donovan Hotel, 1155 14?] Street, Northwest, Washington, DC, to ascertain if a reported missing person was staying at the hotel. Hotel management con?rmed that the missing person, David hereinafter referred to as the decedent, was a guest of the hotel staying in Room 400. 2. Hotel management responded to Room 400 to check on the welfare of the decedent, using a master keycard to gain entry. Upon entry, hotel management found the decedent face-down on the ?oor. He displayed no signs of life. Emergency services were requested. District of Columbia Fire Department units and Of?cers with Third District responded. The decedent appeared to have stab wounds to the back and displayed no signs of life. His body remained on scene. 3. Detectives with Homicide Branch responded to the scene'and observed what appeared to be stab wounds to the decedent?s back. Blood was seen on the ?oor and walls of the hotel room, the entry door of the hotel room, and on the body of the decedent. A wallet was on the ?oor next to the decedent?s head with various credit cards strewn about. Additional credit cards and identifying documents were seen throughout the room. Additionally, detectives observed that the decedent had small zip ties, red/orange, neon pink, and yellow in color, that were attached to each other and attached to his fingers. The zip ties appeared to be af?xed together into makeshift handcuffs. 4. Detectives secured the room pending the issuance of a District of Columbia Superior Court search warrant. A search warrant was issued and several pieces of evidence were collected. Detectives on scene observed that the decedent?s cell phone, known through other sources to be a Samsung Galaxy S4, which he was known to use for email and other online activity, was missing from the room. To date, the decedent?s cell phone has not been found in the course of this investigation. 5. An autopsy was later conducted at the District of Columbia Of?ce of the Chief Medical Examiner. Among other injuries, the decedent suffered the following injuries: stab wound to the left side of his chest, approximately 4 inches deep, that went through his heart; stab wound to his right abdomen, approximately 3 inches deep that hit his liver; stab wound to the right groin, approximately 3 inches deep; stab wound to the right upper arm in the shoulder region, approximately 2 3% inches deep; stab wound to the upper left back; stab wound to the mid?back area, almost 5 inches in depth, that hit a bone of the spinal column, fractured that bone, and pierced the pleural cavity; and a stab wound to the right Subs/onibed and sworn before me this 2 day of April, 2015 i i Irwin 3; t; I: g' a it?" i if tan?r- '5'?le Police Of?cer Badge District Deputy Clerk ?ank, approximately 3 inches in depth. The decedent also suffered numerous incised wounds to his left hand and right pinky ?nger, consistent with wounds suffered while defending himself. This is not a complete list of the decedent?s injuries. The manner of death was determined to be Homicide. 6. Surveillance footage was recovered from The Donovan Hotel. It shows a suspicious individual, later identi?ed through investigation as the defendant, amyra Gallmon, wearing dark clothing enter the hotel and walk up the stairwell to the fourth ?oor. The time on the surveillance video when the defendant enters the hotel is approximately 19:44:10 (7:44 pm.) on February 9, 2015. The individual in the surveillance footage appears to have a light complexion and at times covers its face. The time frame of the suspicious individual seen in the video is consistent with the time frame that the decedent ceased contact with others via his electronic devices (phone and email). The suspicious individual seen in the video appears to be wearing a dark winter coat, black pants, black shoes, black gloves, and at at least one point, a black mask. It is dif?cult to determine the sex of the suspicious individual in the video. 7. While processing the scene, detectives observed what appeared to be blood on the door handle of the door on the fourth ?oor leading to the stairwell. The apparent blood was collected, and was later subjected to testing for the presence of blood and DNA testing. The swab of the apparent blood from the door handle was tested for the presence of blood. It was presumptively positive for the presence of blood. The results of the DNA testing of the door handle swab revealed a female, single source DNA pro?le. 8. In the course of the investigation, detectives learned that the decedent had and used the email address of dcguy456@gmail.com. Detectives obtained a search warrant for the account associated with dcguv456@gmail.com. A review of the information obtained from the search of dcguy456@gmail.com, showed that the decedent used dcguy456@gmail.com to post on Craigslist. Detectives observed that the decedent posted an advertisement on Craigslist using dcguv456@gmail.com on February 9, 2015, the date of the homicide, soliciting responses from other men. 9. From a review of emails from dcguy456@gmail.com, detectives observed that the decedent had ongoing communication with an individual on Craigslist on February 9, 2015, that begins at approximately 1:58 pm. on February 9, 2015, and continues intermittently throughout the day until approximately 7:30 pm. The username of the individual with whom the decedent was communicating by Craigslist on February 9, 2015, appeared as ?chrissanche20906.? It appeared that Craigslist user ?chrissanche20906? responded to the decedent?s Craigslist post from February 9, 2015. The communication between dcguv456@gmail.com and ?clu'issanche20906? on February 9, 2015, included the decedent Subscribed and sworn before me this 2 day of April, 2015 i i I I a? . {all n. v- .. . .. - Police Of??cer Badge District Deputy Clerk telling this individual his location (The Donovan Hotel), room number (room 400), and a speci?c time (7:00 PM and 7:30 PM) to meet. A subpoena was sent to ?Craigslist? for account information associated with user ?chrissanche20906.? It was learned that the email account linked to user ?chrissanche20906? was: chrissanche20906@vahoo.com. 10. Detectives obtained a District of Columbia Superior Court search warrant for the email account chrissanche20906@vahoo.com. Detectives reviewed the contents of the email account. Detectives found that the following phone number was used as an alternate contact within the email account: 240-601-2892. Detectives researched the phone number in law enforcement databases and found that it is associated with a Sprint account registered to a female named Jamyra Gallmon. Detectives continued to search the email account chrissanche20906@vahoo.com and observed an email from Paypal to amyra Gallmon.? 11. Detectives researched amyra Gallmon, who appeared to be an African? American female with a light complexion, and found that she resides at 2439 Good Hope Road, Southeast, Apartment 1122, Washington, DC, 20020. On March 31, 2015, A DC. Superior Court search warrant was issued for 2439 Good Hope Road, Apartment 1122, Southeast, Washington, DC, 20020, a one-bedroom apartment. MPD began execution of the search warrant on April 1, 2015. The defendant, amyra Gallmon, was the only person present inside of the apartment at the time the search warrant was executed. Detectives recovered numerous pieces of evidence related to the homicide. Detectives located a Samsung cell phone plugged into an electrical outlet inside ofthe bedroom of the location. The defendant stated that the Samsung cell phone belonged to her. Detectives called the phone number 240? 601-2892, and observed and heard that the cell phone rang. Also recovered during execution of the search warrant, were a folding pocket knife with a silver blade and black handle, black boots and black gloves. Detectives also located a pack of small, multi?colored zip ties similar to the ones found on the ?ngers of the decedent. 12. On March 31, 2015, a DC. Superior Court search warrant was issued for data related to the Sprint account 240-601-2892. On April 1, 2015, detectives received the records associated with 240-601-2892. Detectives were able to plot cell tower locations as they relate to the call. logs. At 18:30:07 (6:30:07 pm.) a phone call was made from the account that ended at 18:30:10 (6:30:10 The phone call registered to a cell tower located at approximately 2500 25th Street, Southeast. This cell tower is in the area of the defendant?s home at 2439 Good Hope Road, Southeast. At 19:47:34 (7:47:34 pm.) a phone call was made from the account ending at 19:48:20 (7:48:20 The phone call registered to a cell tower located at approximately 1120 Vermont Avenue, Northwest. 1120 Vermont Avenue, Northwest, is within one block of the scene of the homicide. At 22:40:13 (10:40:13 pm.) a phone call was made from the account ending at 22:49:22 (10:49:22 The phone call registered to a cell tower located at approximately 2500 25th Street, Southeast. This evidence places the cellular telephone belonging to the defendant. .iamyra Gallmon. in the area of the homicide in the time frame that it occurred. On April 1, 2015, a District of Columbia search warrant was issued for the Samsung cellular telephone belonging to the defendant that was recovered during a search of her apartment and has the telephone number of 240-601-2892. Detectives were able to look into the cell phone where they observed the email account chrissanche20906@gmail.com saved. 14. On April 1, 2015, the defendant, Jamyra Gallmon, responded to the Homicide Branch for an interview regarding this investigation. The defendant was read her Miranda rights and waived. Initially the defendant denied her involvement in this homicide. Subsequent to this interview, the defendant was placed under arrest and charged by MPD with Felony Murder while Armed. 15. After arrest, the defendant was read her Miranda rights. She invoked. Moments later, the defendant reinitiated contact with detectives by knocking on the door to the room in which she was held. The defendant was re?read her Miranda rights. This time she waived her rights and agreed to speak to police. During the interview, the defendant admitted going to the hotel on the 4th ?oor with the intentions of robbing the decedent. The defendant stated that once she reached the room, the door was open and she went inside. According to the defendant, the decedent did not know she was in the room until she turned to walk out of the room. At that time, the decedent got up off of the bed and attempted to stop the defendant from leaving. The defendant stated that the complainant grabbed her arm causing her to ?ashback to a memory of when she was assaulted. The defendant stated that the decedent started ?ghting with her and she pulled a knife that she had in her sweatpants and stabbed the victim. The defendant further stated that the decedent continued fighting so she stabbed the decedent again and again causing him to back up. The defendant stated that when she realized that the decedent could not hurt her any more, the decedent ?staggered? towards her and eventually fell to the floor. The defendant said that after the decedent fell to the ?oor, she stabbed him again. She believed she stabbed defendant probably three times. 16. The defendant stated that she stole the decedent?s SmartTrip Metro card. Further investigation revealed that the defendant also took cash from the decedent. The defendant admitted to bringing colorful zip ties to the hotel room, but denied using them. The defendant also said that she put the clothes she wore at the time of the homicide in a bag and disposed of them in a sewer near Alabama Avenue, Southeast (near a Safeway). The defendant stated that she threw the clothes away because they were bloody. In addition, the defendant stated that she took the decedent?s cell phone and threw it away in a trashcan on 14th Street, Northwest, near The Donovan Hotel.
