WOMEN REGULATIONS Effective l9l56-l967 As a woman student you will enjoy the privileges and share the responsibilities of living at the Univer- sity of Florida. Through the Wonien Students? Associa- tion we gain the privilege of governing our- selves with its attendant responsibilities. The regula- tions which follow have been made by the women students and apply to all single undergraduate women living on and off campus. Each student is expected to know and understand the regulations. On the assumption that each of us will accept our responsibilities, the regulations are placed at a tninimum for responsible group living and are based on generally accepted rules of mature con- duct. The underlying principle is an application of Honor to university living. Specifically, this means having respect and consideration for yourself and for others. Wliy? Because it is these two elements which make our community life both possible and enjoyable. Here at the University of Florida we value the long?eherished Honor Code which gives you freedom yet expects from you much responsibility. If you should violate regulation, you are on your honor to report yourself to the Honor Council in your Resi- dence l-lall. You are equally responsible to report the violations of other students. For just as the Honor Code exists to give you freedom, so these reporting processes exist as your responsibility to the Honor Code. Recornmendatioris for changes in the it-?Sn regula- tions can be made by any student to the members of her Hall Council. These recommendations are dis- cussed by Councils in the halls and sororities and by the Interhall Presidents? Committee which presents worthy recorrimendations to the WSr"r Council. 26 WOMEN ASSOCIATION REGULATIONS I. UPENDIG AND IIOLIRS . Regular ions l. On one floor in your section of the hall yoI1?1l find a laundry room. It has washing machi?f?. dryers and clothes racks. In the public area 0f the hall complex are television rooms. Ping?pn?g tables, a piano and other recreational facilities are located in the halls? recreational rooms. In addition to these, most complexes also have cafeterias or snack bars and a variety store right in the building. You?ll like the stores when last minute purchases are necessary. Just go downstairs they?re like small drugstores. Although your room Comes furnished, there are several things you will need to bring with you. Don?t forget a blanket. . .it gets cold here. Linens are part of your rent, so no need worrying about them. Each week you get two sheets, a pillowcase, and three towels. For those muggy fall and spring days, it might be wise to bring a fan with you. An iron is a necessity, and you may want to have a hairdryer for those last minute hair-do?s. Extra hangers may be needed, and don?t forget a laundry bag. As you can see, there's a lot to know about life here and still we aren?t able to tell it all. But we- won?: worry, because half the fun of col- lege is learning and experiencing things for the first time yourself. am? \\lJll; 57/11? WSA and You From the first moment you arrive on campus you are a member of WSA, the organization which officially represents all single undergraduate women. Your most direct contact with its govern- mental functions will be through your own Honor and Hall Councils. These two councils have been established to give each resident an appre- ciation of the privileges and responsibilities of group living, practice in self?govetnment and programs of cultural, academic and social nature. Both are composed of elected representatives. Honor Councils function as judiciary bodies and through them you will learn the importance and purpose of WSA regulations. For major and an accumulation of minor infractions as well as counseling, Honor Councils refer cases to the WSA judiciary Committee, a selected and ap- pointed group of mature women. 5 nnri pun uoddns q3m:5JL{1 01 ?ugagh? ug an: oqm uaurom amoayam am PUB seq 1] HE Lt; nod. 1g pm: Juapnls U7 aagoa 5; {gr} HI-3 J-D IUQISAS IEJLIQM -Lu:m.wf4" a1u[nLrIm; put: ?sndunzagzgo pm: Jaqm mm; put: Jncui 3.113 Inx?anuy Inolg ETIF (All - officers and - Sn--.-ring, rnakinr.
